A Latin Glossary

For Family and Local Historians

By Janet Morris. Sixth printing (2009). 43 pages. ISBN 978-1-906280-18-5.

Prior to the 1730s many parish registers and legal documents were written in Latin, which can be something of a stumbling block to researchers who are unfamiliar with the language or handwriting. This booklet aims to serve as a glossary for most of the more common words which occur in parish registers, wills, and the simpler types of title deeds and manorials records, and to be helpful to beginners as well as to those with some knowledge of Latin.
